The Airtec Motorsport Stage 3 Intercooler Kit for the Ford Focus RS Mk2 has been developed for the most extreme projects and is one of the most powerful bolt-on intercooler solutions available for the platform. This intercooler uses an enormous 100mm high-flow intercooler core, also known by Airtec as the "Gobstopper" mentioned due to the exceptional cooling performance.
While the popular Airtec Stage 2 intercooler has already proven itself as the go-to choice for cars with more than 400 hp, the Stage 3 has been specially developed for real 500+ hp buildsThe development of this kit took more than ten months to achieve the perfect balance between airflow, cooling capacity, and fit.
The enormous 100 mm intercooler core is combined with smooth-flow curved end tanks and an integrated Air-Ram Scoop which actively forces the airflow through the intercooler core. As a result, intake temperatures remain extremely low, even at very high power outputs and under prolonged load.
In addition, the kit comes with a complete 70 mm cold side system, consisting of a 70 mm intercooler outlet and a three-piece aluminium/silicone cold side connection that aligns perfectly with the throttle body. This creates a much more efficient airflow towards the engine.
Throttle Body option: When ordering this intercooler, you must choose between a connection for the original 63 mm throttle body or a connection for an aftermarket 70 mm throttle body. The kit does not come with a throttle body. Therefore, please check in advance which throttle body is currently installed on your vehicle and then select the correct option.

During tests on a Focus RS Mk2 with over 600 hp, the Stage 3 showed impressive results. By replacing only the Stage 2 intercooler with the Stage 3 variant, the power increased from 594 hp to 632 hp and the couple increased from 740 Nm to 814 NmIn addition, the outgoing air temperature dropped from a maximum of 28°C to only 22°C.
NB: The impressive gain of 37 hp and 73 Nm was achieved on a vehicle with well over 600 hp. On vehicles around 400 hp, the power gains will be lower, but the improved cooling capacity remains clearly noticeable.
NB: During installation, always ensure sufficient clearance between the silicone hose and any sharp edges of the radiator. The hose must be positioned correctly to prevent damage.
