Airtec Motorsport intercooler upgrade for the Mini Cooper S R53 (supercharged), developed to reduce intake temperatures and thus maintain stable power output in tuned vehicles. An ECU remap increases turbocharger pressure, causing intake temperatures to rise rapidly. This causes power loss and additional thermal stress. An improved intercooler reduces these temperatures, allowing for better power retention and safer engine operation under heavy loads.
Airtec has substantiated this with test results on the roller bench where the standard intercooler was compared with a 50 mm competitor core and the Airtec 60 mm bar-and-plate coreThe results show significantly lower exhaust temperatures from the intercooler and higher peak power when using the Airtec upgrade.

The intercooler is designed as a bolt-on upgrade and requires no drilling. A big air deflector fin helps direct the airflow through the front section of the intercooler. The set is completed with a all-aluminum air ram scoop, CNC-milled connecting flanges and cast aluminum smooth flow end tanks for optimal air conduction.
