To prevent power loss during prolonged load, Airtec has developed a much larger intercooler that directly replaces the original intercooler. The intercooler uses a 60 mm high-flow core which is almost twice as tall as the OEM model and nearly 100 mm longer. This results in a massive increase in capacity and an impressive 127% increase in frontal surface area.
The integrated Air Ram Scoop Forces airflow directly through the intercooler core, keeping charge temperatures significantly lower during spirited driving and track use. In combination with the smooth-flow end tanks and air guide, this ensures optimal airflow through the entire system.
The kit comes with a 2.5 inch hard boost pipe upgrade which replaces the original 2-inch piping. The larger diameter reduces restrictions and improves airflow toward the engine. During dynamometer tests, the installation of the larger pipes alone yielded a gain of 11.8 hp and 12 Nm of torque.
This Stage 1 kit is suitable for vehicles with power levels of more than 400 hp and thereby forms an excellent basis for modified Focus RS Mk2 models.
