Airtec Motorsport Stage 1 front mount intercooler kit for the Ford Focus MK1 RS developed for power outputs up to approximately 375 hpThanks to the efficient 70 mm high-flow core, this kit offers not only lower intake temperatures but also faster turbo response.
The original charge cooler system functions fine on standard vehicles, but with increased turbo pressure and tuning, coolant temperatures rise rapidly. As a result, Air Charge Temperatures (ACT) can rise above 55°C, leading to power loss and potential engine damage.
The Airtec Stage 1 intercooler replaces the original system with an efficient front-mount intercooler setup that drastically reduces intake temperatures. As a result, power remains stably available and the engine can safely deliver higher performance.
The kit uses a 70mm high flow intercooler core and comes complete with aluminium boost pipes, silicone hoses, stainless steel hose clamps, a battery displacement plate, and all necessary mounting materials.
Assembly takes on average 4 to 6 hours and requires no grinding, welding, or drilling. The turbohousing also does not need to be modified or rotated.
NB: This kit is designed for use with a K&N Gen2 intake or a similar system. The original airbox cannot be retained.
NB: All intercooler kits are supplied with a dump valve connection. If this is not used, it can be sealed with a blanking plug.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why a front-mount intercooler instead of the original charge cooler?
At higher turbo pressure, the original charge cooler system becomes saturated faster, causing intake temperatures to rise and power to be lost.
How much power can this intercooler support?
This Stage 1 intercooler is developed for vehicles from standard power up to approximately 375 hp.
Does the car need to be ground or welded?
No, the assembly requires no grinding, welding, or drilling and can be carried out at home.
Can I keep the original airbox?
No, this kit is designed for use with a K&N Gen2 intake or similar aftermarket intake system.
