Airtec Motorsport charge cooler radiator upgrade for the Ford Focus RS Mk1 2.0 Turbo, developed to significantly improve the cooling capacity of the original charge cooler system.
Although the original charge cooler system functions well on a standard vehicle, problems often arise as soon as the power is increased, for example through software optimization. The original Ford charge cooler radiator then struggles to keep the coolant temperatures under control.
When cooling capacity falls short, intake temperatures rise, causing the engine management system to reduce power to protect the engine. This results in power loss and less consistent performance during spirited driving.
Airtec's solution consists of a larger charge cooler radiator with a 70 mm thick core, which is 30 mm larger than the original version. As a result, the capacity increases 5.5 liters to 9.7 liters, good for an impressive 76% increase in volume.
Thanks to the larger capacity, the charge cooler system can keep temperatures much better under control during prolonged load, ensuring power remains available more consistently.
The radiator is complete plug & play and uses all original mounting points and connections. No modifications to the car are required.
Finished in a durable black powder coating for an OEM+ look.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a larger charge cooler radiator important?
With higher turbo pressure and tuning, the temperature of the charge cooler system rises faster. A larger radiator helps keep these temperatures stable.
How much larger is this radiator compared to the original?
The capacity increases from 5.5 liters to 9.7 liters, which amounts to an increase of 76%.
Does it need to be adjusted for installation?
No, this radiator is a direct replacement for the original part and uses all OEM mounting points.
Is this upgrade only useful for tuned vehicles?
The greatest benefit is achieved in tuned vehicles, but standard cars also benefit from more stable temperatures.
