By installing a upgraded intercooler Charge temperatures are lowered, resulting in more consistent power and safer engine operation. This effect becomes even more important with ECU tuning, where boost pressure and other parameters are increased.
Airtec has extensively tested this intercooler on the dynamometer and compared it with both the original intercooler as a well-known aftermarket alternative. The results clearly show that the 60 mm bar-and-plate core Airtec keeps inlet temperatures structurally low, even during intensive use.
During tests, a tuned Mini R53 with Airtec intercooler achieved a peak power of 233.3 hp, while the outgoing inlet temperature is below the 50 degrees remained. This results in more usable power and a more reliable setup.
The intercooler is equipped with a all-aluminum air ram scoop and a large air deflector which actively forces the wind through the front of the core. Installation is complete plug & play and requires no drilling or modifications.
