What does LPFP mean?

LPFP stands for Low Pressure Fuel Pump, or the low pressure fuel pumpThis pump is usually located in or near the fuel tank and its function is to fuel from the tank to the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) to pump.

The LPFP acts as a 'precursor' in the fuel system, ensuring that sufficient fuel always reaches the engine – at a constant, low pressure.

Why is an LPFP important?

A properly functioning LPFP is essential for the operation of modern engines with direct injection and turbos. Especially with tuned cars, where fuel consumption and turbo pressure increase, the standard LPFP too weak are.

Insufficient fuel pressure may cause the following problems:

  • ❌ Loss of power

  • ❌ Too lean mixture (dangerous for the engine)

  • ❌ Pinging or detonation

  • ❌ Error codes or emergency mode
